Five-year hangove

The reduction in the demand for wine exports is due to the rise in dollar by 60 percent in past two years. In addition, Australia's biggest wine company Southcorp would be harvesting 30,000 tonnes of extra grapes from its own vineyards as a result of the strong vintage that is leading to oversupply adding to the industry problems that are expected to be around for at least five more years.

Southcorp's chief executive, John Ballard states trade loading affected the wine company in 2003.
