Food wholesalers industry
Article Abstract:
Food distributors will see only limited revenue growth because of subdued inflation. The maturity of the industry makes it hard for food wholesalers to increase sales, and they are facing increasing competition from chain grocers and large general merchandisers. But the large size of wholesalers gives them cost advantages over competitors. Although the industry's profit and sales growth is unimpressive, there are a few stocks that are favorably ranked for the next six to 12 months.

Food wholesalers industry
Article Abstract:
Sales and earnings for food wholesalers in 1995 will grow respectively by 9% and 21%, but could be impeded. Profits for this industry will be even higher for 1996 and through 2000, because of cost cutting and other factors. This industry should outperform the market in 1995 and 1996, and investors could see long-term capital gains. Higher earnings and stock prices may also be forthcoming through acquisition.
