For just one screenful at a time
Article Abstract:
Janesway Electronics' Print Screen 2.0 is a helpful program that lets users capture and print screen shots. View Software's Long File Name for Windows 95 4.0 utility allows Windows 3.1 programs to handle the long file names found in Windows 95. Print Screen works with all versions of Windows, and it is more sophisticated than the Windows Clipboard, letting users store more than one thing at a time. Print Screen seems to have almost too many features. Users may enlarge or shrink an image, can edit colors and can save an image as a bitmap file. Users may add time and date stamps to their documents, and printing speed may be accelerated if users are willing to sacrifice some quality. Long File Names allows users to employ files created in Windows 95 in Windows 3.1 programs, and it allows files with short, Windows 3.1-style names to be used in Windows 95. It also allows users to employ only long file names in Windows 3.1 programs, although this involves a lengthy process. Print Screen costs about $30, as does Long File Names.

A colorful carousel for changing programs
Article Abstract:
Tanisys Technology's $35-$40 Spinwizard Windows-based application file management software includes helpful features for managing programs, while Portable Software Corp's $70 Quickxpense business expense management application includes customizable expense reports. Spinwizard places Windows applications in a colorful carousel of icons. Applications are easily loaded by clicking on one, which immediately launches the program. Up to 96 icons can be used on the carousel. The application can be automatically loaded when Windows boots by placing it in the Startup folder. The application is extremely intuitive and easy to use. Quickxpense allows business travellers to create custom expense reports. When first used, the application conducts an extensive interview of the user's travel and expense habits. Then the application provides blank fields for travel expenses to be filled out.

Spring cleaning files
Article Abstract:
Quarterdeck Corp's Cleansweep 95 2.02 is the perfect program for obsessive users who need to clean up their files. The opening screen provides cleanup, program, restore, view and options tabs. Each tab includes as many as five subsections. In tests, Cleansweep was instructed to find duplicate files on different drives. The end result, 291 redundant files, were color-coded according to whether or not the files can be deleted safely. Cleansweep also gives users the opportunity to change their minds about deleting files and warns users if they try to delete files without saving backups. Cleansweep is widely available for $30 or less.
