Why do entrepreneurs become franchisees? An empirical analysis of organizational choice
Article Abstract:
Entrepreneurs that posses more work experience and education and fewer years in his recent business experience are more likely to adopt the franchise contractual form. The same is also true for entrepreneurs that have a larger financial capital and if they find the industry risky. It is also shown that franchisees show lesser quality skills as compared to independent owners, hence, franchisors are challenged by an adverse selection problem.

Article Abstract:
By looking at the less-explored area of franchising and its history, in relation to their performance, new truths about the area are brought out. It reveals the deeper relations that exist between franchises than what was previously thought possible.
