Ford Argentina to cut output over sales drop
Article Abstract:
The General Pacheco plant in Buenos Aires, Argentina will temporarily cut production of its Escort model, according to its parent company Ford Motor Co., due to a 15% decline in domestic sales and about a 35% decline in foreign exports to Brazil. The Ford Argentine unit also announced suspension of 1,400 auto workers, with full pay, out of its 3,570 person workforce. Sluggish market conditions in the region have also prompted temporary closures at Renault SA and Fiat SpA auto plants in Argentina.
