GM seeks broad agreement in Flint strike talks
Article Abstract:
General Motors Corp. (GM) negotiators are seeking to bring about an end to strikes at two United Auto Workers (UAW) plants by July 11 or 12, 1998. However, several issues have hampered their efforts to do so. Those issues transcend the local topics that led to the strikes in early June 1998. Several UAW leaders claim that GM is restricting negotiations only to the striking Flint, Michigan plants. The leaders are also doubtful that a settlement can be reached by the time GM is hoping for.
