GST registrations might be a surprise roll-call
Article Abstract:
Some Australian tax experts, including Tony Parker, feel that the Australian Taxation Office (ATO) has underestimated the number of business that will register for the goods and services tax (GST). ATO expects 1.5 million GST registrations, though Parker feels that estimate is low by 40%. Parker believes that many businesses will voluntarily register; registration is required except for those with less than an expected annual turnover of $50,000.
