Galileo used to live here. Tuscany Hi Tech: the network and its poles
Article Abstract:
Economic development in Italy has led to the rise of three geo-economic entities, with the first composing the Industrial Triangle, the second covering the less developed areas and the third characterized by rapid economic growth. The case of Tuscany, which is experiencing rapid industrial growth but where industrialization is not at the level of Italy's other regions, is an exception. To foster innovation among small and large companies, the government has instituted a Tuscan High Tech Network. There are signs that the network has been doing the job it was designed for.
