Tickle funny bones, and sell more Burger King Whoppers?
Article Abstract:
Burger King is replacing its three-year old food and music advertising campaign with a new one based on humor and self-deprecation. The television ad campaign was created by Ammirati Puris Lintas, the New York agency that created the previous campaign. As part of the shift, Burger King is doing a complete makeover that includes everything from its corporate logo and product packaging to its restaurants and cooking systems.

Nothing toylike in Mattel chief's compensation
Article Abstract:
At least one analyst thinks Jill E. Barad's salary from Mattel Inc. of $4.75 million is in line with her performance as chairwoman and CEO. Even though the company has had some disappointing quarters recently, 'initiatives' that she instituted in 1998 could begin to pay off in 1999, initiatives such as acquiring the Learning Co., a software firm with interactive toys.
Comment:
Jill Barad's salary and bonus were 14% higher in '98 than in '97
