Global's Universal Financials
Article Abstract:
Guardian Insurance Co. replaced its existing accounting system with Global Software Inc.'s Universal Financials. Before, the British insurer relied on a set of outmoded financial applications that were developed in-house in COBOL. Because this system was quite time-consuming, the company saw it fit to acquire a package for its general ledger to allow its information system division to concentrate on value-added applications. The Universal Financials allowed Guardian Insurance to have access to more accurate and reliable management and financial information. The flexibility of the package also enabled the company to reform the manner by which it maintains, merges and sorts financial data. Guardian Insurance plans to eventually introduce the software to all of its operations.
