Golf course plans halted after protest

Residents of Tepoztlan, Mexico, demonstrated for 12 days after plans for Grupo KS to build a golf course were approved by the village's mayor. The protesters claimed the golf course would cause a water shortage and that chemicals used on it would affect wildlife. The project was halted.

Refugee exodus halted
Article Abstract:
As many as 50,000 Rwandan refugees are now attempting to flee Burundi, as the mostly Hutu refugees are again being slaughtered by Tutsi militiamen. Many are trying to escape to Tanzania but the government there has sealed its border, claiming it is already overwhelmed with refugees.

Nuclear project halted amid fiscal woes
