Grandaddy of computer trade shows is remaking its global gigs
Article Abstract:
ZD Events parent, Ziff Davis Inc., reported flat revenue for first nine months of '99, compared to the same period in '98. The company continues to lose money: $14.9 mil for Q3 1999; $27.6 mil in Q3 1998. ZD Events contributes 23 percent of the parent company's revenue. It stages 100 trade shows in 25 countries, 22 of which are Comdex shows. A new service, ZD Studios, plans events focused on specific technologies. Softbank, the owner of Ziff Davis, is in the process of selling off its non-Internet assets, so ZD Events may soon have a new owner.
