Growth party may be ending
Article Abstract:
The director of Australia company Access Economics believes that Australia's economy is coming to the end of a three-year period of growth. The growth has had both economic and political effects, with benefits to both Federal and State governments, but factors such as reform fatigue, the state of the US economy, increased interest rates, and the reduced growth of the working-age population may lead to the end of the growth period.

Rates must rise
Article Abstract:
In 2003 Australian economists are analyzing whether to raise the Reserve Bank interest rates since this step may turn out to damage housing-market. It is proposed that pre-election tax cuts seem to be the next trend, so Government should not be too generous in any tax cut, arising with a rise in interest rates in the early months of 2004 and the Opposition should not attempt to outbid the Government.

Economist: enjoy the moment
Article Abstract:
The reasons behind the growth of corporate profits before tax of Australia, which grew by 39% through 2003, are examined. The key structural reason is the fallen Real unit labor costs measurement which measures the true cost of labor to employers like total wages plus on-costs, less productivity improvements and inflation, rather than risen through Australia's extended period of good economic growth.
