The Australian gold mining firm Gympie Gold, formerly called Devex, is hoping to return to its glory days when the district produced A$1.5 billion in gold between 1867 to 1927 at today's prices. Formerly known as Devex, Gympie Gold bought its gold assets from BHP in 1994 after it failed to make the property profitable despite a A$32 million investment. The company reported its first profit in 1997. Gympie Gold Managing Dir Harry Adams is a major investor in Pilatus Capital, which owns 45% fo Gympie Gold.
