Heading for a new golden age
Article Abstract:
Australia's productivity rate, coupled with low inflation, and an open economy have contributed to a healthy economy. Since 1993, multiproductivity growth has averaged 2.4%. Since 1997, the rate has been 4%. The economy has benefited by its new composition of, and growth in, the financial, business, and telecommunications sectors. Finance and business services represent 21% of the GDP. Areas for improvement are unemployment with a rate of 7.5% and the trade deficit of $1.521 billion.
