Helping Students Graduate To Jobs
Article Abstract:
Jobs for America's Graduates is a program that helps high school students develop skills for employment when they might have more difficulty gaining employment otherwise. Students must meet specific criteria for the program, and then they go to work for local businesses under the tutelage of job specialists, who are to help them develop skills and with events in their lives. The programs are available in 27 states.

Both houses of Congress have passed welfare reform measures that would eliminate the federal Aid to Families with Dependent Children (AFDC) program and replace it with programs designed by the states. However, the Republican-controlled House and the Republican-controlled Senate have yet to agree on a final bill.
