Holden Rodeo ties down the Hilux

The Holden Rodeo, sold through Isuzu-General Motors (I-GM), has outsold Toyota Australia's Hilux to take over market share leadership in the light commercial vehicle category. Total I-GM vehicle sales through August 1999 increased its market share from 9.2% to 11.6% Holden dealerships have overcome criticism that they were unable to sell light commercial and four-wheel drive vehicles. I-GM has mirrored Toyota's technique of saturating the market.

Holden has experienced excellent sales of its vehicles in the Middle East. Domestic versions of its vehicles may be sacrificed to provide additional export vehicles. Holden has a plant at Elizabeth, in Adelaide.
