'Line-item' veto backed by House

Article Abstract:

The House passed a bill on Feb 6, 1995, that would give the president line-item veto power. The Republicans spelled out their support for line-item veto in their 'Contract With America' agenda. Some Democrats opposed the bill, but it passed by 294-134.
