How to Report Taxes on Futures Transactions
Article Abstract:
The Internal Revenue Code's (IRC) ruling of taxation of profit from investment in futures is not clear. Some contracts are considered regulated futures contracts (RFCs) and some are considered speculative options, each being taxed differently. The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) Form 6781 is one that must be used if the taxpayer has invested in RFCs.
