The role of life cycles and forecast horizons in a forecasting system: Reebok's perspective
Article Abstract:
Product life cycles and forecast horizons can affect a variety of functional areas in the supply chain, thus a forecasting system should be one which recognizes the effect of a life cycle and forecast horizons on each other. Forecast systems should also realize the impact of different products on the life cycle and forecast of a certain product and on other functional areas of the supply chain. Including life cycles, forecast horizons and product influences in an integrated system and realizing them as different entities will enhance value beyond question to operational productivity.

Forecasting coverage in the finance curriculum
Article Abstract:
The forecasting course outside a business school is exclusively offered by the Economics Department and this usually views forecasting as an end product instead of a tool for decision making. Although the state of forecasting in the finance curriculum differs from school to school, the usual content of a forecasting course includes data collection, data sources, forecast presentation, control and evaluation of forecasts, review of basic statistics and moving averages.
