Human nature, organizations, and management theory
Article Abstract:
Human behavior within organizations can be characterized as being: democratic, in which people improve themselves through the pursuit of their own interests; modern, in which people operate within the constraints of laws or rules that do not prevent their being infinitely malleable; totalitarian, in which the organization or state must control people to create an ordered existence; or hermeneutical, in which people create rules for existence based on their interactions with each other. These human behavior characterizations affect the formation and operations of organizations. Applications of these four theories of human behavior to organizational research may help to explain organizational structures of control and processes of group decision-making.

Properties of emerging organizations
Article Abstract:
This article explores the characteristics of emerging organizations and suggests that emerging organizations can be identified by four properties: intentionality, resources, boundary, and exchange. These properties are defined and discussed. Suggestions are made for selecting samples for research on emerging organizations. Three roles of language in motivation theory
Article Abstract:
Motivation theories, when viewed from the perspective of one versed in organizational communication, focus on language that informs and that reduces worker uncertainty. An extension of current theories to include the impact of three kinds of speech acts - uncertainty reducing acts (perlocutionary), meaning-making acts (locutionary), and human-bonding acts (illocutionary)-on motivation is proposed.
