IBM picked to develop, run a system for United Technologies procurement
Article Abstract:
International Business Machines Corp. was selected to develop and manage a procurement system for United Tecnologies Corp. The contract is significant because it represents an early win in IBM's recent effort to offer "business process management" services. As part of the contract, IBM will not only use its software and hardware to create a procurement system -- including on-line purchasing and payments -- but also work on behalf of United Technologies in negotiating and handling contracts with suppliers.

Unisys campaign emphasizes firm's vigor
Article Abstract:
Unisys doesn't want a ho-hum mission, image or ad campaign. CEO Lawrence Weinbach charged Bozell Worldwide to do something about it. They came up with the campaign that puts computer monitors on the shoulders of people instead of heads with faces. It's a global campaign that will launch in 25 markets with the message that Unisys employees "eat, sleep and drink" their job responsibilities. Other steps by Weinbach have been cutting debt by about $1 billion and getting out of the PC business.
