IT&T, galloping into the future
Article Abstract:
The information technology and telecommunications (IT&T) sector is an integral part of the Australian economy, and its success has been fueled by the Internet. IT&T revenue totaled more than $65 billion in 1998-99, and in the following fiscal year, revenues will account for almost 4% of the nation's GDP. By 2003, revenue should reach about $90 billion. Currently, more than 15,000 enterprises employ more than 200,000 workers in 465 industry classes, the biggest of which is telecommunications (including the Internet), with a revenue of $22.4 billion.
