Ethics and organizational reflection: the Rockefeller Foundation and postwar "moral deficits," 1942-1954
Article Abstract:
Modern times compel both business executives and business scholars to develop expeditious solutions to deep-seated moral problems. In an earlier era, leaders of the Rockefeller Foundation approached the realm of ethics more reflectively, contemplating and debating its optimum role in their organization over the course of a dozen years. The newly uncovered private correspondence regarding their deliberations documents the allegiances and beliefs of key management and political figures of the time, including those of Chester I. Barnard. (Reprinted by permission of the publisher.)

Organizational legitimacy under conditions of complexity: the case of the multinational enterprise
Article Abstract:
Theories on organizational legitimacy can be extended by examining the multinational enterprise (MNE). The MNE's legitimacy is analyzed at the organizational level. This is done by examining the MNE as a whole and as a subunit. The MNE as a whole refers to the firm and its global environment. The MNE as as subunit deals with the acceptance of the host country of the firm. The approach also considers factors that hinder or facilitate state-firm negotiation processes.
