Influence of environment, strategy, and market orientation on performance in small manufacturing firms
Article Abstract:
A study was conducted to analyze the industry environment impact with the effects of firm strategy and market orientation culture on the performance of small manufacturing companies. Results indicated that strong performance needs more than an appropriate match of strategy to the environment because of the correlation between environmental turbulence and growth differentiation strategy. Findings also showed that firm culture and competencies that influence the implementation of corporate strategies are critical factors that affect the performance of small businesses.

The adoption of logistics process technology by manufacturers
Article Abstract:
Patterns in the adoption of logistics process technologies by 187 US manufacturing firms are analyzed. Strategic planning process variables emerge as superior determinants of the adoption of information technology (software) than data technology (electronic data interchange, hardware). Firm size also appears to be an important factor in the adoption of all technologies considered in the study.
