Insurance (life) industry
Article Abstract:
Consolidation is increasing rapidly in the life insurance industry, although on a lesser scale than in banking. There will be more mergers, acquisitions, and divestments in the future with low interest rates, the need to specialize, and to maintain economies of scale for competitiveness. Insurance companies will enjoy good earnings in 1996, but insurance stocks are now high. There are good growth opportunities for investors with small insurers.

Insurance (life) industry
Article Abstract:
Earnings for the 3rd qtr of 1995 were less than anticipated in the life insurance industry. Variable life insurance sales have been strong, but are offset by difficulties in traditional life, health, and disability insurance lines. The fastest growing segment of the life insurance industry is annuities. There are few timely stocks in this industry for 1995 and 1996, and these stocks are not good investments at this time.
