International drug sting yields 165 arrests

US, Colombian and Italian law-enforcement officials made over 165 drug-related arrests in the US, Italy, England, Spain, Canada and Costa Rica. The individuals allegedly were involved in a money-laundering scheme with the Italian Mafia and a Colombian cocaine cartel.

The US has declared Colombia as uncooperative in the international war on drugs, which disqualifies the country from receiving economic assistance from the US. The State Dept reports that Colombia is the world's foremost supplier of cocaine.
