International economic outlook
Article Abstract:
European monetary union will be a move that will affect most of the world's economic developments but the general outlook for economic development remains optimistic with moderate growth expected to continue. A slowdown in growth is expected for North America, Australia and New Zealand in 1998 and 1999 because of the Asian financial crisis while some east Asian nations are expected to enter a recessionary phase. Eastern and Central European economies are expected to post strong growth between 1998 and 1999.

International economic outlook
Article Abstract:
Statistical forecasts show that, from 1997 to 2005, the world economy will grow at an average annual rate of 3.8%. This growth will be fueled by government policies and economic factors. Fiscal and monetary policies will cause decreases in budget deficits and more stable prices. Slight declines in the economic growth of Latin American and European economies will be offset by the good economic performance of Asian countries such as India and the Philippines.
