Israel, Syria resume direct talks in Washington

Israel and Syria agreed to meet after Sec of State Warren Christopher met with them individually in an effort to restart the peace talks between the two nations. It is hoped that the talks will be complete before Israel's political campaigning begins in earnest during the summer.
