Israeli Labor Party defeats ruling Likud bloc in national elections

Israel's Labor Party clearly defeated the ruling Likud Party in parliamentary elections June 23, 1992. Labor won 44 seats, and the Likud bloc had its worst results since 1969. Yitzhak Rabin is expected to head the new government.

Shamir, Levy mend Likud rift
