It doesn't look like a bank
Article Abstract:
First Union Corp. is launching its $150-million-plus Future Bank concept, which the company initially introduced in Atlanta, GA, in May 1997. The new program is designed to offer more investment and financial services such as automated safety deposit boxes with a special card key, more sophisticated ATM machines, as well as customer service telephones in its branches. The changes will entail a massive reorganization and redesign of its retail branch network and telephone system covering the bank's 12-state network along the East Coast. The Delaware launch will coincide with the conversion of the former CoreStates Financial Corp.'s branches that First Union acquired for $17 billion in April 1998.
