Jett, ex-kidder trader, says he is innocent
Article Abstract:
A former star bond trader at Kidder, Peabody & Company, Joseph Jett, angrily denied accusations that he fabricated major trading profits. In addition, Mr. Jett hinted that racism had only worsened his problems. On July 21, 1998, Mr. Jett was found guilty by an administrative law judge for falsifying records in a Securities and Exchange Commission civil case. Mr. Jett claimed that similar securities cases led to less harsher sentences. Mr. Jett was ordered to repay $8.2 million in bonuses he received from Kidder, and was fined $200,000. He was also banned from the securities business.
