The relentless increase in the value of securities has reached a 13% annual rate because of the constant expectation for long-term earnings growth. Past stock market history demonstrates that a market correction will undermine this optimism. Australia anticipates a decline in its own economic future, but is worried more about the impact that domestic political instability will have on foreign investors.
