Judgment in Tokyo court opens the door for foreign litigation
Article Abstract:
A Tokyo, Japan, court has upheld the decision of the Queensland, Australia, Supreme Court in favor of Fernwood Group over Japan Sanwa Home Inc in early 1998. Fernwood will have access to Japan Sanwa's assets to recover the costs incurred by Japan Sanwa's Australian subsidiary. The dispute began in the early 1990s when Sanwa Home Australia did not acquire the site that Fernwood had cleared under contract.
