Kodak net jumped 72% in 3rd quarter, but stock price slides on weaker sales
Article Abstract:
Eastman Kodak Co. reorted a 72% increase in third-quarter earnings, while its stock plumeted 13% as investors focused on weaker sales and Kodak's price war with Fiji Photo Film Co. The company's performance was within Wall Stree's expectations, however analysts regarded Kodak's positive performance as empty in light of a ten percent drop in revenue to $3.39 billion from $3.77 billion. Kodak reported that bonuses for executives would top those offered in 1997, a cause of concern for Wall Street analysts.

Polaroid's earnings for period and year to trail projections
Article Abstract:
Polaroid Corp. announced that its earnings for the second-quarter of 1998 and for the entire 1998 year will be below what analysts had expected. The company is attributing its low forecast to its attempts to cut inventories in retail and wholesale channels. Polaroid is predicting that it will post from 55 cents to 60 cents a share net income for the quarter. This would be down from its earnings during the same period in 1997.

Kodak profit, in a surprise, leaps by 35%
Article Abstract:
Eastman Kodak Co. posted earnings for the second-quarter of 1998 that were higher than expected. The company reported a 35% improvement in quarterly earnings. Wall Street analysts had forecasted lower figures. Kodak posted $495 million in earnings, compared to $368 million during the same period in 1997.
