Kurdish militants attack Turkish sites in Europe

The Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) organized attacks on Jun 24, 1993, on Turkish embassies and businesses in more than 24 different European cities. The PKK is trying to pressure the government of Turkey to set up a separate state for the Kurds. Germany was a major site of the violence.

The conflict between Kurdish separatists and government forces in Turkey escalated Mar 20-25, 1992. It was estimated that at least 75 people were killed, bringing the total of casualties to over 3,400 since 1984.
