Learning community development
Article Abstract:
The Phoenix National Health Service Trust, England, is undergoing a learning programme to facilitate the development of a supportive, well-managed organisation. The trust employs 1,500 people to provide health and social services for people with learning difficulties. The programme aims to provide both a focus and a framework for organisational development, including the development of new ways of working. Employees' participation is voluntary, but many of the 64 managers and clinicians who participated in the programme during the first year reported a powerful effect on their personal development.

Briefings for expatriates and organisational myopia
Article Abstract:
Many international companies offer training seminars to aid the integration of expatriate employees. The seminars tend to focus on the cultural aspects of the region. This is important, but employees also need to learn about the corporate culture of their new environment in order to help them integrate quickly. Strategies for expatriate integration, observed over a three year research project with a major French international bank, are presented.
