Lihir sees profits ahead

The gold miner Lihir Gold has announced a loss of $2.2 million for the first half of 2004, lower than $6.7 million loss for the same period last year. The company with large reserves is expected to make profit in the next half and the talks of it as a takeover target by some large gold firms have faded now.
