Intelligent agents go to work for management accountants
Article Abstract:
The field of management accounting is being revolutionized by the emergence of intelligent agents. Intelligent agents are computer programs that can function as management accountants' personal assistants. They can manage time, sort through large amounts of data and gather previously inaccessible information, and even 'learn' the characteristics of their users. Intelligent agents can interact with other agents, imitate their users, learn from example and be given instructions. There are a number commercially available intelligent agents that management accountants can choose from. These include workstation management agents, task coordinator agents, teacher and peer agents, and information overload agents.

The program uses the right half of the screen to display a list of files in the current directory; subdirectories are also listed. Striking Enter will automatically call up and load the highlighted file. Norton Commander runs on any IBM-compatible computer with 320 kilobytes of memory and a hard disk.
