Making the Web a friendly place to visit
Article Abstract:
The developers of the World Wide Web face the challenge of presenting a new technology in a way that is logical yet intriguing. Originally conceived to be used for text, the Web has become a magnet for all types of images. Animators, graphic designers, artist and advertising professionals all use the Web to create their products. One approach to Web design is the industrial designer's approach. This mind set is to streamline the Web experience and is popular with artists that want users to take the time to discover what the Web site is about. This approach has led to the use of digital barbed wire and other framing devices that prohibit wandering and define a particular site.
