Maxwell brothers acquitted of fraud

Two sons of deceased publishing magnate Robert Maxwell were acquitted of fraud charges after an eight-month long trial. The brothers were accused of using pension funds from the Robert Maxwell Group as collateral for loans to support the failing company. A third employee was also acquitted on charges.

Rostenkowski pleads guilty to mail fraud
Article Abstract:
Rostenkowski, the former chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee, struck a plea bargain with prosecutors on Apr 9, 1996. He agreed to plead guilty to two counts of mail fraud in return for the dismissal of 11 other charges. He was sentenced to 17 months in jail and fined $100,000.

Don King fraud case ends in mistrial
Article Abstract:
A fraud case against prominent boxing promoter Don King was ruled a mistrial because the jurors were hopelessly deadlocked. Prosecutors alleged that King defrauded $350,000 from Lloyd's of London after Julio Cesar Chavez injured himself and could not fight as scheduled in 1991.
