Managers' innovations as 'sense-making.' (research into the social construction of innovations in an information technology company)
Article Abstract:
A study has found that managers' innovations are socially constructed by the individuals concerned, rather than directly from factors within the organizations. From the evidence of 10 managers and 14 collaborators, within a information technology company, it was discovered the innovations came from individuals responding to their own needs. When faced with situations which challenged their expectations they used their past experience to make sense of what was occurring.
