Managing flexible automation
Article Abstract:
New programmable forms of automation open up the possibility of greatly enhanced production flexibility and a shift sway from product standardization. This article reviews recent research on these challenges in strategy formulation, project evaluation, change management, technology implementation, human resource management, and industrial relations. The argument highlights the need to choose the right set of stabilities in order to successfully manage the desired dimensions of flexibility. (Reprinted by permission of the publisher).
