Mattel revamps retailing strategy to boost its sales
Article Abstract:
Mattel Inc. typically gets 30% to 40% of its business from Toys R Us and Wal-Mart, but last minute cutbacks in orders last fall put Mattel in a position it didn't enjoy. To protect against that kind of surprise again it will do a number of things: l. It will sell its wares direct over the Internet. 2. It will require retailers to place full orders before Thanksgiving for the holiday season. 3. It will stop taking reorders in December.
