Trafalgar drops Norther takeover bid

Trafalgar House PLC announced on Aug 4, 1995, that it was abandoning its hostile takeover of Northern Electric PLC. Trafalgar had begun the takeover process in Dec 1994, offering $1.92 billion, but competition from other firms and a possible legal inquiry convinced the firm to drop the bid.

Volvo, Renault to merge
