The stocks of medical services companies have risen, partly because of acquisitions and mergers. Continued growth is forecast for institutional pharmacies and assisted living facilities, which should experience annual growth of about 20% between 1997 and 2001. Drug companies must comply with new labelling regulations, which may affect sales of drugs intended for the elderly.
