Consumers are moving toward using wireless, mobile communications and away from PCs and associated software. so Microsoft has been developing various ways for customers to link to the Internet and their personal computers at home and at the office. Aside from developing the operating systems software for Samsung's 'Stinger' cellular telephone, Microsoft is offering MSN Mobile, Mobile Explorer and Airstream software and the PocketPC hand-held device.

Microsoft stock declines amid concern Windows XP may miss delivery target

Market-research firm Giga Information Group forecasts that Microsoft Corp.'s new Windows XP operating system will be released in August, rather than in June. Analysts say such a delay will make it difficult for computer manufacturers to get their machines loaded with the new software in time for the the Christmas buying season.
