Gates on tape: scant memory of key details
Article Abstract:
Justice Department lawyers played before Federal District Court Judge Thomas Penfield Jackson selections from the videotaped deposition taken last summer from Microsoft Corp. Chairman Bill Gates. Gates volunteered no information and gave short answers. Asked if he had written or seen certain internal Microsoft e-mail communications, he professed not to remember. Much of the questioning concerned allegations that Microsoft sought to deprive Sun Microsystems and Netscape Communications of marketshare, in part, by strong-arming manufacturer Apple Computer into making Microsoft Explorer the default Internet browser on its systems.

Justice Dept. and Microsoft put their cases into writing
Article Abstract:
Both Microsoft and the Justice Department presented their cases on paper and now it is up to the judge to decide the fate of the company. The Justice department still hold that Microsoft was creating products that are purposely linked to other Microsoft products in order to make it impossible for other corporations to compete. Microsoft admits to a level of product tying but does not think that it was to the level that was an anti-trust violation.
