Mitsubishi will pay $34 million in sexual-harassment settlement
Article Abstract:
Mitsubishi Motor Manufacturing of America Inc. will pay $34 million to settle a sexual-harassment suit filed by the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) on behalf of female workers in the company's only US auto factory. The record settlement will bring to a close the largest sexual-harassment case in legal history. A study conducted by the EEOC prior to filing the case in 1996 concluded that at least 300 women at the large plant had been subjected to insulting sexual innuendo, and unwanted grabbing, groping and touching.
