Mondavi says net to trail estimates for the 4th period
Article Abstract:
Expected fiscal fourth-quarter profits at Robert Mondavi Corp. will not meet First Call Corp.'s estimations due to a shortage of its Woodbridge Chardonnay brand and will lead to layoffs of 7 executives in a 900 employee workforce. Mondavi, losing market share, also had suffered an investor scare following a recent shortfall of premium-quality Caifornia grapes used in its Woodbridge Chardonnay brand, Mondavi's most popular wine. Mondavi may have difficulty recovering from the damage, even after the release of the 1997 Woodbridge Chardonnay vintage, since retailers have pulled floor displays of Woodbridge wines. Other California winemakers, such as Beringer Wine Estates Holdings Inc., have also been affected by poor grape harvests in 1995 and 1996.

Fidelity is warm and fuzzy, say spots featuring avuncular Lynch
Article Abstract:
Fidelity Investments' new advertisements show the company as being a warm and human place. The ads also show that employees love to work for Fidelity. The advertisements are an attempt by the company to erase its faceless and monstrous image. The ads display actress Lily Tomlin and Peter Lynch, the famous investor making their pitch for Fidelity. The corporate image ads are scheduled to be released during the weekend of September 5-6, 1998.
